Preparations

Hey guys!

So things have been really interesting here at EARTH!

This weekend is the university's multi-cultural fair and everyone is getting ready. For the past few nights you could hear all the chainsaws and hammers as students build their stands out of bamboo and palm leaves. It's really amazing that they do this without any pre-made supplies. Local businesses have started to set up shop, the stage is built, the game room is closed because it's filled with supplies, and everyone's busy with fair stuff. Luckily, the america interns and I don't have a booth so we can wander around campus during the fair. There's going to be dancing, food, music, food, games, and did I mention food? Ever since I've been at EARTH there has always been something delicious and now there's going to be even more spectacular latin food. I'm so excited and I can't wait!

ICE CREAM!!

Garbage receptacles!
I worked on the farm today and it was pretty normal. I took some pictures of the cows and their udders so I could start building up their profiles. I still have trouble understanding some of the farmhands, but now that I know the routine I barely have to ask about what to do next. Everyone's so nice on the farm. We have breakfast and coffee breaks together which is a lot of fun. Today Dona Yamy gave me this sweet cinnamon sugar pastry with my coffee and it was really great. Everyone shares what they have with one another and it's just a good work environment to be in.

After working on the farm I had lunch and then a spanish lesson after that. Spanish is becoming a lot easier for me, I'm understanding more, and I'm starting to figure out which tenses to use. Paula, Lina, and other native speakers have been telling me that I'm doing really well, so I think I'm making progress! Once spanish was over Lina, Marianna, and I went to swim before we headed off to dinner. The pool here is really cool too! It's kind of like a racing pool only very shallow and a lot warmer. It's lukewarm, but when it's 80 degrees with humidity any water, lukewarm or cold, is perfect.

So we ate dinner after that, it was normal, nothing really new there. After dinner was fun though! Paula, Lina, and I went to one of the labs to help them count bacteria. I didn't count any, but I took lots of pictures.
Look at all that bacteria!

That's about it! The next few posts will probably be more detailed and interesting. Just a little psa, blog posts might be a little dry every now and then. Not every day is a big adventure, so I don't want to over embellish things or feel obligated to do crazy stuff every day. I hope you guys like these posts the way they are anyway!

Good night guys!
